Well, I finally manned up and did it. My laptop has been running real slow for some time now and I've finally gotten up the willpower to format the HD, wipe it completely clean and start anew, with stable old Windows XP instead of fat, bloated and shitty Vista (known to many as VistAIDS). I backed up all my documents, pictures, music etc on my external HD, but other than that, it's like having a brand new computer that doesn't suck.

My laptop was what you could call and average computer with VistAIDS on it, but with XP, it's a great computer and now it doesn't have system processes using up a gig of it's memory just idling, it really flies. I've been slowly installing all my old programs back on it, Photoshop, Office, VLC, all my firefox extensions... it's exciting, but I think it'll be a while before I get past that pang of regret for the loveable idiot that was Vista.

Anyhow, it's exam week coming up and I have three exams to study for, Linear Algebra, Calculus and Computing. Linear Algebra is something that's just made complete sense to me all semester so I should be fine with that. Calculus is probably going to be hard, but from looking over my notes, it seems the lecturer introduced a few basic concepts and then covered them up with confusing examples and applications so the exam might not be as gloomy as I'd thought. Computing, we've had two incompetant lecturers trying (or not, it isn't really very obvious) to teach us so it's going to be a bit of an unknown quantity. I think I've got the first guy's material down well enough, just needa look through the second guy's notes.

So yeah, study should really be taking up my time this week and if I'm online I really shouldn't be. *flagellates self*
That said, I did receive my first ever three-paragraph, all-caps, abusive flame here recently. That made my day, I felt like I'd lost my internet-virginity or something. xD
I generally go through phases of love-dA, hate-dA and I've been in a rather long-lasting "hate-it" phase recently, which I suppose restrained my normal, considerate "go-out-of-my-way-to-ignore-stupidity" attitude.
:iconsuccessfultrollplz:

Holidays coming up though, so there's light at the end of the tunnel for me getting some free time to draw some stuff that I've had on my mind for some time and to get through and comment all the sweet art I've been seeing in my inbox. :)

Two words: Windows 7

Its so sweet 8D After living with VistAIDS for like 2 years now I finally feel free!
Its finally more customisable as well. And easier and gives more information. Like for example when you wanted to defrag you comp back in Vista you only got this this message: This might take between minutes and hours. And that was that! Now its back to old XP-like goodness. Progress bars <3

You just need to update as fast as you install it and get all the newest graphic card drivers or else it might crash=P

Just got finished with my exams. Just hope I pass so I don't need to take up anything in August.
Game and character design next year <3

Good stuff! And aboot Windows, my friend has the new Windows 7 and says it's like Vista without the suckiness. :P It's faster and better....which is awesome since NOBODY likes Vista, and I agree. Also, you can download a free copy of it until next year, that's what he told me.

And I'm taking supplementary classes for learning Japanese and German!

:iconillogical-lynx:
Hmm, yeah I had considered Windows 7. A few of my friends have it, and it apparently has lower system requirements than Vista and is generally better, although at the moment it's only a release candidate rather than the finished version. It's probably me being paranoid, but I'd almost rather wait until they've released it and fixed any/all the bugs and stuff.

It does look good though. XP's going pretty well, very quick. I think I'll upgrade to 7 when it comes out proper, since they'll start making all the new software for 7.

Yeah, I may upgrade to 7 as well, but until I do, and even after I do, XP is on my top!

I saw that whole slew of comments; it was glorious and I must give you a round of e-applause.

you really riled her up though. I told her that her posts made me feel full of sunshine and joy and she thought I was being sarcastic : ( how rude

For a long time I've just tried to work around the fact that she has no idea which of her opinions are worth fighting for, it's as if her mother or someone told her to "always fight for what you believe in" but just forgot to mention that this probably shouldn't extend to disowning one's friends over their opinion on a second-rate romance novel.

I was getting a little impatient with her ever since the "ARBITERXxXANDERS SXC TIME" thing and I just decided I'd treat her the same as any normal person and see if she'd pass or fail the simple test. Turns out I'm a horrid evil person and *ahem* "The ugliest and most childish thing she's ever seen" and "The worst mistake she's ever made" because of my opinions on a book she has nothing to do with, so I guess that constitutes a fail with flying colours.

I'm gonna use one of my friend's accounts to post a last reply since she so rudely tried to block me from posting a reply to her latest post. I saw your comment too, gave me a bit of a laugh. xD
Have you been blocked yet? :giggle:

nah I don't think I've bothered her enough to be blocked. I classified her as a grade A dramawhore the first time I looked at her page, to be honest. Kept my distance. Then Choco posted that ridiculous msn convo we had (with the strawberry) and she fucking FLIIIIPPED OUUUUT which was hilarious. I can't believe she hasn't "quit the internet" yet, though I can certainly see it in her future.

I really hope she's lying about her age.

I got on quite well with her in the beginning, before she started biting off people's heads for no good reason (or at least before I started noticing her doing it). She wrote interesting and personal comments on my work and was quite well receiving of me giving her advice on technical things in her drawings.

I have that entire thing she posted on the strawberry convo screencapped and saved on my comp under something like "JW Hypocrisy.jpg".

When she posted her Arbiter x Anders drawings, I had actually decided that I was going to post "lolwut" and then if she got her knickers in a twist, I was going to give her my unadulterated opinion. She wrote a "This better not be a complaint because I'm in a bad mood" response.
I typed a full calibre retort, complete with numerous colourful analogies such as "as likely as George Bush getting a gay marriage to Osama Bin Laden" then decided I'd sleep on it and post in the morning. However, she then apologised for misreading my post, leaving me wondering what to do. I then got linked by someone else to what she'd posted on that strawberry and the anger sorta all melted into disbelieving pity.

I just couldn't muster up any anger, all I could do was laugh weakly with mild embarrassment at her going ballistic that you two had "Made someone else's character do something they would never do". Later when I asked her about ArbiterXAnders, she said "I am capable of seeing things in characters that other people can't". I was stumped. I had to admit she was dead right, I don't know anyone else who could look at Arbiter from Halo Wars and see that all he wanted to do was get into Anders' panties.
:icontriplefacepalmplz:

Anyhow, sorry for the TL;DR, if either you or choco would like a copy of that screenshot, I can send it to you. Being that Choco removed the deviation, it's become a bit of an internet relic.

Nah it's fine. I'm trying to get out of my internet troll phase and having that screenshot would just give me devious plans. I'll always have the wonderful memories.

I love the Anders x Tharbiter (get it? Tharbiter? Thel + Arbi- okay) thing. I actually managed to read the whole thing through and it was

so

obvious

she had no idea what she was writing. I suppose some girls get turned on by a frothing mandibled lunatics trying to spear them with alien swords? First I've heard of it though. I should try it sometime.

Besides the Arbiter totally had something going on with that gold elite he kept punching in the face. It was so obvious. I know; I can see true love unlike any other person in the universe.
