A photo taken out at Mayor Island, which is about 40 minutes boat ride on a good day from Tauranga harbour where I live and this certainly was a good day!
In the summer holidays we go out there almost on a weekly basis because the water's clear and very good for snorkelling.

This time I was out with some of the guys from my Underwater Hockey team. They're all very good swimmers and there are plenty of underwater tunnels through the rocks to swim through.
It was so flat and calm that we did one or two circuits about the island and I noticed this lovely little archway that I hadn't seen before.

I got quite a lot of contrast on the main archway, the shadows are rather dark. I'm still trying to decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

No edition, just my handy-dandy polarising lens.

Such a gorgeous natural formation! :3

This user is not a natural formation.

THAT'S SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're so lucky, seems like your area of the world is especially gorgeous.

cool stuff, did you try to drown Alistair in one of the aforementioned underwater tunnels? The arch looks like a good sniping spot to me, depending on your gun. Problem with places like that is that it's also probably the first place your enemy would look for a sniper. But you'd just shoot them when you see them looking your way. Although someone would eventually notice when there are 50 odd bodies on the ground parallel to the view of the arch; just shoot them too.

What?

Heh, thanks, It's quite a nice place and it's relatively accessible when the sea is calm.

The island is volcanic so its rocky not sandy, thus the underwater visibility is good too.

Yeah, I really loved the clarity of the water. Mayor island is volcanic so it's rocky with not much sand or silt. Great for swimming!

it's very pretty, did u take the photo in the water or on land? I think the color contrast is good, cause it's adding variations to the picture. btw, u seem like dark blue a lot
:iconillogical-lynx:
xD Thank you very much!
We have quite a lot of good scenery here, it's why a lot of movies are beginning to be filmed in NZ. We have pretty decent anything you want to film in a rather small sized country, mountains, plains, rivers... you name it we've got it. :D

You're welcome :D
Hmmm....so you could be sneaking around the area with your camera and, unnoticing, be filmed in a movie, then we could see you and be like hey! That's a cool kid there sneaking around in the background :-P
:iconillogical-lynx:
lol I guess so!
There was a guy in the States who deliberately tried to get into everything, like not only films but concerts and even sports photos. Apparently there's a photo of a premier grade American football team that he got into. Dressed himself up in all the uniform and ran onto the field when they were taking it. No-one noticed until the photo was developed -hey that dude's not in our team.

I wish I knew what his name was but I reckon it'd be pretty cool to do that!
