Apathy for Art Theft

Here on dA, "Art Theft" seems to be the eighth deadly sin that you go to hell for. Whilst I still think it's pretty stupid and shameful, I also think people get far too butthurt over it. So many people have stamps that loudly proclaim from their journals how much they hate art theives, so many people put "Art theft" on their IDs as something they hate and even more put unnecessary copyright messages in the descriptions of everything they post, saying how they'll come to your house and bite off your head if you repost it without permission.

To an amateur artist, art theft takes nothing from them except perhaps a couple of low-grade comments from random strangers. You know what you created and further, you now know that your work is so enviable that others would want to be you. Are you so proud and so desperate for attention that someone else receiving a few "Cool work!" comments that might be yours is worth having a massive cry over?

To all you people who make anti-art theft clubs and stamps, take a moment to calm down and see how petty you look.

PS: As of recently, I personally HAVE had my digital art and my photography stolen and uploaded on other sites without my consent. Does this change my opinion? No. I'm just flattered that to someone, my art was worth stealing.
