Azura raised the spear up to eye level to examine his catch, a young trout or some other similar fish. The blade had pierced clean through the animal just behind it's head, killing it instantly.

"No substitute for good aim" Azura mused as he extricated the fish's twitching body from the point of the weapon.

In the frosty dawn, The water on the animal's slick body was cold against the bare skin of his fingerless gloves, but Azura gripped it tightly in his clawed hands.

Azura sat down on the bank of the river and bit into the creature's head, his powerful Kutrahl incisors shearing effortlessly through flesh, scale and bone.

As he chewed contentedly, he shifted his gaze down-river. The water wound lazily down from the mountains, across rolling acres of plateaus and forest until it joined up with the sea in the South-West. Some twenty miles downstream, it provided nourishment for the human township of Jamaal.

A solid day's travelling and he could easily make it by nightfall, but in reality there was no rush. He took another mouthfull of the juicy meat and sat back, enjoying the crispness of the air and the rhythmic flowing of the river.

Wow, I actually did something? Who's surprised? Who thought I was dead?

While I was away on holiday I needed something to do and I found this old picture sitting unfinished in my drawing folder. I figured if I didn't do something it'd never get finished anyway so it didn't matter if I ruined it, so I just set to work and finished it up in pen.
I'm quite pleased with it in general although I'm not sure if it's too detailed with all that hatching, I figure it might be a bit difficult to discern what's happening.

The original lineart for this is quite old, but I brought the design up to date before I inked it. I very much like the concept of Azura's extremely... omnivorous diet. I think it de-humanises him a lot which is something I view as a good thing. I want him and his species to be as distinct as possible from the human characters (and potentially other species as well). In fact, the reason I would include humans in his story would be to act as a zero by which you can measure the other species against.
